Susan Davis Trott lives in Charleston, SC. She attended the Art School at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and graduated with a BFA from Winthrop College, Rock Hill, SC. where her mentor was American Precisionist Painter, Edmund Lewandowski. She moved to Charleston in the late 70's to work for Charleston County School District teaching reading and art on Johns Island. She now paints in oil and acrylic, and makes painted paper collages in her studio on James Island. Her influences are numerous, but include Romare Bearden, Wayne Thiebaud, Georgia O'Keefe and Cubism. Her earliest creative inspiration came from the quilts and clothing made by the women in her family. She is a member of the Charleston Artist Collective.
